What is the background behind the moot competition theme?

The Lady Justice Joyce Aluoch International Inter-Varsity Annual ADR Moot Competition was established to provide students with a transformative experience in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), focusing on mediation and negotiation. It is an initiative of Women in Alternative Dispute Resolution (WADR), an organization dedicated to empowering ADR professionals, particularly women, across Africa. WADR promotes non-adversarial dispute resolution mechanisms and fosters a community of skilled mediators and arbitrators.

The moot competition is named in honor of Lady Justice Joyce Aluoch, a distinguished jurist and former judge at the International Criminal Court (ICC). She is globally recognized for her commitment to peacemaking, mediation, and arbitration. Her dedication to advancing ADR methodologies serves as an inspiration to aspiring legal professionals.
